Loretta Miller began her career as a teen performing backing vocals for her mother and aunty (both performers in their own right), and quickly stretched out from there. You could find her singing Hank Williams and Patsy Cline with the Baylor Brothers at the Lomond Hotel or singing Otis Redding and Irmah Thomas with The Stax Soul review at The Caravan club. Millers voice and commanding stage presence mixed together with her experience across multiple genres and styles has seen her tour the country and the world many times over as a member of Clairy Brown & The Bangin Rackettes, then on to fronting her own band JAZZPARTY with creative partner Darcy Mcnulty.
Her voice has featured on recordings for Julia Stone, Harry James Angus, The Tesky Brothers and Frazer A Gorman and she has supported international legends like Charles Bradley, Sharon Jones, Lee Fields, The Cat Empire and Frazey Ford here at Archies Creek.
It seems the only thing Loretta has left to do is to release her own music under her own name and all of that changes now.
Loretta's debut single “DOG” from her highly anticipated solo record launches at The Archies Creek Hotel on the 24th of March. DOG is a powerful blend of indie rock n roll with touches of Country and Americana, described as the heaviest track on the record, Lorettas coming out of the gates strong. A rock n roll anthem about the trappings of co-dependency and unhealthy relationships, Loretta actually wrote the song in Archies Creek and said it came to her fast one evening in lockdown under a full moon and felt it was rite that the song had a special launch here, three doors down from her family home.
Recorded in Main Arm in NSW with her friend and supporter Harry James Angus the tune has been a crowd favorite at her live shows. Loretta will be joined by her band featuring Louie King-Lead guitar(Dope Lemon, King Arthur), her sister Wynona Miller- guitars and vocals (Bug Hunt Emi Lubitz), Joel Loukes- bass (Riley Catherall, Ruby Jones) and Freyja Hooper Drums (Harry Angus) plus special guest, the great Shane Reilly ( Los Ragas ) on Pedal steel.
Supporting on the night Loretta's best friend and sometime writing partner Ruby Jones in trio form. Loretta and Ruby launched a special collaborative single last year about women, ageism and friendships in the music industry titled “Eighteen” Listen here. Eighteen Ruby Jones & Loretta Miller
